Serious injuries that come with a tractor trailer accident are life-changing. Many victims suffer fatal or life-long debilitating injuries. Others are unable to work for months or years following the accident. Commercial trucking companies have deep pockets and will do everything in their power to pay the lowest possible settlement. This leads to lengthy litigation battles and months or years of waiting for your recovery. For those that need cash, litigation funding may be the answer.
A Missouri man has filed a lawsuit alleging that on February 20, 2016, he was driving with his four-year-old son when a tractor trailer veered into his lane, spinning his car violently down the highway before coming to a rest in the median. As a result, the plaintiff said he suffered physical injuries and lost income, and incurred medical expenses amounting to $295,000.
The lawsuit holds the truck driver liable for negligence and alleges the trucker’s employer is responsible for failing to provide continuing education and training to its employees for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle. The plaintiff also alleges that the defendants violated the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. He requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for a sum in excess of $100,000.
